When Should You Book a Boudoir Session?
When Should You Book a Boudoir Session?
A Thoughtful Timeline from Austin’s #1 Luxury Boudoir Studio
One of the most common questions we receive is a simple one:
“How far in advance should I reach out to book a boudoir session?”
The short answer: earlier than you think.
At Elizabeth Adams Boudoir, we work on a limited, appointment-only basis. Our studio calendar often fills several months in advance.
Rather than leaving timing unclear, we want to offer a transparent look at how our booking schedule works — and how to plan comfortably if you’re considering a session, especially if it’s tied to a meaningful date or gift.
Why Boudoir Requires More Lead Time Than Expected
A luxury boudoir experience isn’t just about the day of the shoot.
It includes:
A private consultation
Intentional scheduling
Complete wardrobe styling
Professional Hair and Makeup
A fully guided studio session
A reveal and ordering appointment
Handcrafted albums and artwork
Each step is designed to feel unrushed, personal, and carefully held. Because of that, we accept a limited number of sessions each month.
This allows us to give each client the time, presence, and discretion the work deserves.
Our General Booking Guidelines
While every client’s situation is unique, we recommend the following timelines:
If you are booking for yourself
Reach out 4-6 months in advance of when you’d like to be photographed. This ensures the best chance of securing a date that works well with your schedule.
If you are gifting a session (birthday, anniversary, holidayIf you are hoping for an album or framed artwork
Please allow an additional 4 weeks after your session for artwork production. Albums and fine art pieces are crafted intentionally and are not rushed.
Why We Encourage Clients to Reach Out Early
Many inquiries come from clients who say, “I didn’t realize how far in advance I needed to book.”
Reaching out early doesn’t mean you need to have every detail decided. In fact, most clients don’t — and that’s completely expected.
Early contact allows us to:
Hold space on the calendar
Walk you through the process gently
Avoid unnecessary pressure or last-minute compromises
It also ensures you’re working within a timeline that feels calm and supported.
A Note on Availability
Elizabeth photographs a limited number of sessions each month in order to maintain the level of care and artistry the studio is known for. Because of this, availability fills steadily and far in advance.
If you’re considering a session — even if you’re unsure of exact dates or details — we encourage you to reach out sooner rather than later. It’s always easier to plan thoughtfully than to try to squeeze something in.
Thinking About a Session but Not Ready to Commit
Many clients reach out simply to ask questions, understand the experience, or explore timing. A consultation does not obligate you to book — it’s simply a way to make sure the experience feels aligned and comfortable for you. Boudoir is deeply personal. It should never feel rushed.
In Closing
If you’re considering a boudoir session in Austin and hoping to work together, the best gift you can give yourself is time— time to plan, time to prepare, and time to enjoy the experience without pressure.
If you have questions or would like to begin the conversation, we invite you to reach out.
